How to make a DIY planter box

Tools and materials:

Cordless Impact Driver

Cordless drill

Random orbit sander

Block plane

Table saw

In this video I make a rolling planter box. This type of planter is ideal for balcony gardens.

I begun by cutting my stock to size with a circular saw. I used mostly reclaimed material for the hole project.

I then sanded the pieces a little bit and then broke the edges with a block plane.

Next I used the table saw to cut a few braces which I screwed in place.

I then screwed the sides and the bottom pieces. For the bottom I used a scrap piece as spacer.

After sanding I applied a few coats of walnut water based varnish.

Finally I screwed the wheels in place.

This planter box is ideal for balcony gardens, because you can easily clean by moving the hole box at once.

But that was it. See you soon with a new project video.

How to make a garden hose hanger out of pallet wood!

I found an old pallet in the garbage and I decided to make a hose hanger out of it.

First of all I disassembled the pallet using my hammer to remove the old nails. I kept only the bottom wood of the pallet because that was the only good wood on it.

I roughly joined the pieces with my block plane.

Then I cut my pieces roughly with my circular saw.

I glued the pieces together to make a panel.

Then I used my circle cutting jig and my router to cut a circle out of my panel. I used a straight bit and several light passes to avoid wood burns.

Then using a hand saw I cut the circle in half.

I used my block plane to round over all the edges and to make things straighter when needed.

I cut a few more pallet wood with a hand saw on my miter box, to create the inside cleats.

I rounded over the cleat’s outer edges with my block plane.

I glued the piece together. To increase the strength of the piece I drilled a few pilot holes, I chamfered the edges and added screws.

I also drilled the holes for the mounting.

I lightly sanded the piece and then I applied a few coats of water based wood stain in the color of walnut.

I set my drill to hammer mode and I drilled the hole on the wall using a bit for wall drilling.

Then I hammered in the upat using my mallet and using screws I mounted the piece on the wall.

My garden hose hanger is ready!

I want to give my special thanks to BM tools for the garden hose.

How to plant vegetables in a sack planter on the terrace (time lapse)

I have not much space available in my house, so I decided to plant my vegetables on the terrace.

I first added pallets on which the sack planter will sit on. Under the palettes I added plastic plates to collect the water and not harm the cement floor.

Then I unfolded the planter and added a layer of pumice at the bottom for better drainage.

Then I added the soil. The soil is 50% fertile earth and 50% compost.

Every now and then I added magnesium and calcium fertilizer.

Then I layed out the plants before planting them and after that I planted them.

I cut bamboo sticks to support the tomatoes. I cut thin strips of cloth to secure the plants gently on the sticks!

I planted tomatoes, basil, celery, dill and zucchinis.

I them I gave the plants a good watering in order for the soil to sit and to unite better with the roots of the plants.

Because the planter is on the terrace and there is too much sun, I added a green net on top of it to keep my plants a little bit cooler!

I hope you find this article and video useful!
