Tools and materials I propose:
In this video I make a pendant out of ambrosia maple wood.
I want to thank my friend Mikael Masters for this beautiful wood. You can check Mikael’s work here:
I begun by drawing my basic design with a compass. I then drilled the hole for the strap on the drill press. I did that now because later I would have lost my mark.
I then cut the basic shape on the bandsaw.
Next I screwed a piece of plywood on my face plate.
To centre the piece easier I added circles on the piece with a pencil.
Then I hot glued my blank on the plywood.
I used my bowl gouge to shape the piece. Then I heated a spatula and removed the piece from the face plate.
Using the hole I created earlier I re-mounted the piece on the face plate with a new centre point.
I then shaped again with the bowl gouge.
I sanded the piece. I then applied a coat of sealer. Then I wet sanded to 600 and finally I buffed the piece with carnauba wax.
And that was it. I think it came out beautiful. See you soon with a new project video.
