Woodturning a batch of spinning tops

Tools and materials I propose:

Lathe

Wood turning tools set

Chuck kit

Tormek T8 Sharpening System

Tormek Woodturner’s Kit

Bandsaw

Table saw

Forstner bit set

Alcohol based markers

Wire Burning Kit

Jointer planer

In this video I make spinning tops out of basswood.

I first squared my stock on my planer and table saw.

Then I started making the handles. I found the centres and cut  the rough shape on the bandsaw. I then drilled the holes now that my pieces where still square.

Next I turned the spinning tops. I added a round headed nail on their bottom and used alcohol based markers to decorate them.

And my little tops where ready and really fast spinning. But that was it, see you soon with a new project video.

Gradient yarn bowl - woodturning

Tools and materials I propose:

Lathe

Wood turning tools set

Chuck kit

Tormek T8 Sharpening System

Tormek Woodturner’s Kit

Bandsaw

Buffing kit

Table saw

Jointer planer

Cordless drill

Foredom Woodcarving Kit

In this video I wanted to make a bowl by glueing three different species of wood to create a gradient effect. I used mahogany, oak and basswood.

I begun by planing my material flat. I then cut it to squares and then circles.

I glued the pieces together. To prevent them from slipping around I used a couple of dowels.

Using a face plate I turned the outer side of the bowl.

I then chucked from the other side and hollowed it.

Next I designed the yarn spiral. I removed as much material as I could with a saw and a drill. Then I just used my rotary tool to carve the rest. After that it was just a matter of spending some good amount of time on sanding.

I added a coat of sanding sealer, then lightly sanded and finally I buffed the piece with carnauba wax.

And that was it, I am really happy with the way it came out. But that was it. See you soon with a new project video.

How to make a simple wooden DIY weaving loom

Tools and materials:

Speed square

Miter box

Hand saw

Belt sander

Bandsaw

Block plane

Countersink bits

Cordless drill

In this video I make a super simple weaving loom out of basswood.

I begun by cutting the frame pieces on my miter box.

I then measured and drilled my peg holes.  I glued 6mm dowels in the peg holes.  I then predrilled pilot holes and screwed the frame together.

Then I made a simple filling career. Basically I used the block plane for the job.

I then made a comb out of basswood and bamboo sticks.

And that was it. All I got to do know is weaving. See you soon with a new project video.
