Woodturning an almond and olive wood nut cracker

Tools and materials:

Lathe

Chuck kit

Tormek T8 Sharpening System

Tormek Woodturner’s Kit

Cordless drill

Forstner bit set

Wire Burning Kit

In this video I make nut cracker that uses an almond hammer and an olive wood bowl to crack the nuts.

The olive wood was a bit cracked, so I filled the cracks with sawdust and glue.

I then turned the tenon for my chuck.

Next I hollowed it. This was trickier than I thought because I didn’t have much space for the tools to get in.

To clean the bottom I used a conical piece to help me centre it better.

Next I made the hammer. I pre-frilled the hole with a forstner bit.

Next I turned the handle and glued it in place.

I finished everything with mineral oil.

And it worked really nice. But that was it. See you soon with a new project video.
